Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell began as reporter for TV and radio in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. In Washington she was made general reporter by NBC News a year later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Then she was named chief White House correspondent in 1992 and was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was part of the panel during 1988's presidential debates, which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was the ex-chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was presented with the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first reported on in the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of the administrations of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell reported on a wide range of noteworthy stories including guns control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell went on numerous trips in the company of President Reagan to meetings with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
